Scaling Digital Health Solutions: Connecting TEFs, EDIHs and DIGITAL for Health Innovation

Scaling Digital Health Solutions: Connecting TEFs, EDIHs and DIGITAL for Health Innovation
7 July 2026 11:00–12:30

Europe has invested significantly in digital health innovation over recent years. Artificial Intelligence, robotics, health data platforms, and advanced digital technologies are already demonstrating their potential to improve healthcare delivery, support clinical decision-making, and strengthen the resilience of health systems.

Yet, despite the growing number of successful pilots and innovative solutions reaching maturity, scaling remains one of the most difficult challenges. Many technologies prove their value in controlled environments but struggle to move beyond local deployments and achieve broader adoption across healthcare systems.
One reason is that the innovation journey is often perceived as fragmented. Different European initiatives support different phases of development and deployment, but connections between them are not always visible from the perspective of innovators, healthcare providers, and public authorities seeking to adopt digital solutions.
Testing and Experimentation Facilities (TEFs), European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs), health data infrastructures, digital skills initiatives, and other Digital Europe Programme actions all contribute to this ecosystem. However, unlocking their full value requires a clearer understanding of how these instruments complement one another and how organisations can navigate from one stage to the next.
This is precisely the topic at the centre of the upcoming online event "Scaling Digital Health Solutions: Connecting TEFs, EDIHs and DIGITAL for Health Innovation", organised by DEDEP.eu in cooperation with CoordinaTEF and the Digital Transformation Accelerator (DTA).
The event will explore how Europe can strengthen the links between validation, deployment, and scaling activities, creating more effective pathways for the adoption of trustworthy digital health solutions.

The event is organised in two complementary sessions exploring how digital health solutions can move from validation to large-scale adoption.

Part 1 | Open webinar
A practical overview of the DIGITAL health ecosystem, including TEFs, EDIHs and other DIGITAL initiatives. Participants will discover available services, access opportunities, and how these instruments can be combined to support the journey from testing to deployment and scaling.

Part 2 | Interactive workshop
A collaborative session for ecosystem actors to discuss barriers to scale, identify opportunities for stronger alignment across initiatives, and explore practical actions to improve uptake, interoperability and impact across Europe.

For CoordinaTEF, the discussion is particularly relevant. As TEFs continue supporting the validation of AI and robotics technologies in real-world environments, stronger collaboration with deployment and scaling initiatives becomes increasingly important to ensure that promising innovations can progress beyond testing and deliver impact at European level.
The event offers an opportunity to better understand how different components of the DIGITAL ecosystem can work together to support a more connected, interoperable, and scalable future for digital health in Europe.
