Overview

Access to specialised testing facilities is often a critical step in the development of healthcare technologies. For innovative companies working towards regulatory compliance, delays in testing can slow down development activities and postpone important milestones.
Within TEF-Health, the collaboration between Cortex Machina and Multitel demonstrates how timely access to advanced testing infrastructure can support innovation pathways and help companies move forward with confidence.
Cortex Machina develops technology aimed at transforming remote EEG monitoring by reducing costs, improving data quality and simplifying use through automation. In 2024, the company needed to perform electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing as part of its journey towards CE marking.
After learning about TEF-Health during VivaTech in Paris, Cortex Machina engaged with Multitel to conduct the required tests. Following an initial discussion to clarify the company's needs, the testing activities were rapidly scheduled and completed at Multitel's anechoic chamber in Mons, Belgium.

Impact

The collaboration enabled Cortex Machina to access specialised EMC testing infrastructure without the lengthy delays it had encountered elsewhere.
At the time, the company had been informed that similar testing services would require a waiting period of approximately six months. Through TEF-Health, the required activities were organised within weeks, allowing Cortex Machina to proceed with an important step in its development and compliance pathway.
The EMC campaign included both radiated emission and radiated immunity testing and was completed in a single day at Multitel's facilities. A comprehensive test report was delivered one week later, providing Cortex Machina with the documentation needed to support its next development and regulatory activities.
For the company, the successful completion of the tests represented another milestone on its path towards CE marking and demonstrated the value of rapid access to high-level testing capabilities.

The Challenge

As Cortex Machina progressed in the development of its technology, EMC testing became a necessary step in its preparation for CE marking.
Although the company had identified the testing services it needed, it faced significant delays in accessing suitable facilities. Waiting several months for testing could have postponed subsequent development and compliance activities, creating uncertainty around project timelines.
Cortex Machina therefore required access to appropriate testing infrastructure within a timeframe compatible with its development objectives.

The Solution

Following an initial meeting at VivaTech in Paris, Cortex Machina was introduced to the services available through TEF-Health. After a follow-up discussion to better understand the company's requirements, Multitel organised the requested EMC testing activities at its anechoic chamber in Mons, Belgium.
The facility offers advanced testing capabilities for electromagnetic compatibility, including radiated emission and radiated immunity assessments. All required tests were completed in a single day and covered the needs of Cortex Machina's device.
One week after the testing campaign, the company received a full test report documenting the results. By providing rapid access to specialised infrastructure and technical expertise, TEF-Health supported Cortex Machina in completing an important step towards its next development and compliance milestones.
